I don't think Benedict is directly involved. It is certainly a work of "Benedict devotees," but moreover, of the mean, conservative movement in the Church. They considered Benedict "their Pope." Unfortunately, even though he was consistent with himself as Ratzinger The Inquisitor, I believe the dress-wearing crowd pushed the envelope far beyond what Benedict intended. Now we are seeing a crescendo of this movement. Why? Because they are digging their heels in harder in reaction to Francis, whom, as you rightly say, they abhor.

XO FFB

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4051295000680761553.post-60689055458911268612015-10-06T10:07:43.512-04:002015-10-06T10:07:43.512-04:00Not really sure where I stand on this one...but, I...Not really sure where I stand on this one...but, I'm inclined to agree with your assessment. Which would actually be good - because I was kinda liking Francis and the story about Davis and the comments about rebelling and "standing up" for one's beliefs just knocked him down a few dozen pegs for me.

I mean, when you put your hand on the Bible - especially as a self-proclaimed Christian - and swear to do the duty you've been elected to do, part of which is to uphold the State Constitution - which she did - and then you refuse, it's a bit like perjury in a courtroom, isn't it?whkattkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18303183404359234168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4051295000680761553.post-88398053964897617552015-10-05T22:07:10.221-04:002015-10-05T22:07:10.221-04:00Too bad stories like this don't get the attent...Too bad stories like this don't get the attention that caused all of the attention in the first place.
