Very romantic. I wonder whether Vonnegut's idea of "full and imaginative lives" includes the large-scale human sacrifices of the Aztecs, the enslavement of Native Americans on the losing side of conflicts with other Native Americans, and the genocide that various Native American tribes frequently practiced on other tribes. The extermination of the Pocumtucks by the Mohawks is just one example of many.

They were not perfect as Old Continent dwellers weren't perfect whit what religious wars, heretic burnings, public bloody executions and corruptin of the church...Vonnegut was pointing out that the consequences of Columbus' discovery weren't idyllic as traditionally depicted.
