I agree that discomfort with seeing male affection is rooted in homophobia. What I've always found interesting is that this discomfort does not apply to sports. In many sports teammates can hug, put their arms around each other, pat each others butt and no one is uncomfortable with that. I suppose the belief that many people have is that athletes can be affectionate with one another and it doesn't mean anything sexual because since they are athletes they must not be gay. Total B.S. of course but there it is.
