I just finished watching the film. I LOVED it!! I was born in 1957. So being gay as a youth was considered a mental illness. That was pushed aside in the early 1970s. And since then LGBTQ acceptance has gotten better and better. We are not there yet. Step back and think. Why is the then-time period of the movie--and now where being gay and the reference to children go hand in hand. That is supposed to create fear in the straight folks. But rarely, if ever, do the two go together. I love period films and this is in my wheelhouse. I see how each of the three characters had a hand in how their lives progressed. I understand but was also upset about the wife writing the letter to the museum. I was in the military in the 80s and being gay could get you kicked out. But more times than not you could serve your country. Just keep your nose clean and you will be just fine. Great move!! Great acting. Yes, even Harry. Great production, writing and directing.
