What the freak is going on?

Have right-wing religious fanatics gotten together and bought a controlling interest in Facebook AND Tumblr?

Facebook bans users from saying if they're a 'top' or 'bottom'

https://www.queerty.com/facebook-bans-users-saying-theyre-top-bottom-20181206

Facebook certainly doesn’t mind if you’re gay, but a new rule forces users to keep what they do in the bedroom to themselves. Or at least move the conversation to Messenger.

The new content policy makes things like saying you’re a ‘top’ or a ‘bottom’ off-limits, in a move the social media behemoth says will combat content that “facilitates, encourages or coordinates sexual encounters between adults” and bars “sexually explicit language that may lead to solicitation.”

“Sex positions,” “sexual preference” and any number of other sexy umbrellas pertaining to “sexual hints” are all means for moderator intervention now.

Another common phrase you see a lot — “send nudes” — is a no-no, whether its meant as a joke or an actual request. The new rules ban “offering or asking for nude images.”

Via FB’s community standards:

“Do not post content that engages in implicit sexual solicitation, which can be identified by… using sexual hints such as mentioning sexual roles, sex positions, fetish scenarios, sexual preference/sexual partner preference, state of arousal, act of sexual intercourse or activity (sexual penetration or self-pleasuring), commonly sexualized areas of the body such as the breasts, groin, or buttocks, state of hygiene of genitalia or buttocks.”

Facebook’s updated community standards are fucking WILD! Stating your sexual orientation is now literally against the rules and is seen as solicitation.
Also butts are not ok anymore either.
Fuck this so much. Everything about it.

Facebook has changed community standards. My strip club community watch the ads you post. Nothing can suggest “erotic dance” or even slang like “a good time”
Read the whole thing. I don’t want any one banned. https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/sexual_solicitation … pic.twitter.com/t1xPFiCntF

Even a Fox News reporter realized something might be amiss here:

Christopher Carbone@christocarbone
Have #LGBT folks noticed that #Facebook updated its community standards to ban a wider range of language around "sexual solicitation"? If so, what do they think? Email or DM me. https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/sexual_solicitation …

And one user pointed out the timing of the change, so close to Tumblr banning all adult content:

Jesse DM's maniacs@GiveMeAnAxe
with #tumblr banning adult content and now #Facebook banning all sexual innuendo in their "community standards" with #instagram likely to soon follow, what else is out there?
google plus?

A Facebook spokesperson defended the changes, which were implemented in October, to PC Mag: “This change was prompted, in large part, by conversations with our content reviewers, who told us that the sexual exploitation policy did not adequately distinguish between exploitation (e.g. ‘My ex was a slut. Look at the photos she sent me.’) and solicitation (e.g. ‘Looking for swingers. Friday at 8 PM, [name of bar]. Wear pink.’).”

The spokesperson continued: “We’ll be putting out the minutes from our policy development meeting at which these changes are discussed and adopted, and we’ll also publish updates to our Community Standards so that people can track changes over time.”

Pervy Facebook?

WTF?

Facebook Workers, Not an Algorithm, Will Look at Volunteered Nude Photos to Stop Revenge Porn

Reports this week said a Facebook pilot program would let users volunteer nudes to an algorithm to stop revenge porn—but those nudes will be viewed by a human at the company first.

This week, multiple outlets reported on a Facebook pilot scheme that aims to combat revenge porn. In the program, users would send a message to themselves containing their nude images, which Facebook will then make a fingerprint of, and stop others from uploading similar or identical pictures.
The approach has many similarities with how Silicon Valley companies tackle child abuse material, but with a key difference—there is no already-established database of non-consensual pornography.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, Facebook workers will have to review full, uncensored versions of nude images first, volunteered by the user, to determine if malicious posts by other users qualify as revenge porn.
Tackling the pervasive problem of revenge porn without someone examining the images—while also making sure the system is not used to pull down legitimate images—is a difficult task. But the manual nature of Facebook’s new processes is still something users of the world’s biggest social network may want to be aware of before sharing nude pictures in order to stop a revenge porn attack.
As The Guardian reported on Tuesday, the process for Facebook’s Australia-focused pilot starts when a user completes an online form with the local government’s e-safety commissioner. The user then sends the images they would like flagged to themselves on Facebook messenger, and an analyst will open the image and create a fingerprint of it. That fingerprint is what the company will use to track any similar images in the future.
What that and other explanations do not necessarily make clear, however, is that prior to making that fingerprint, a worker from Facebook’s community operations team will actually look at the uncensored image itself to make sure it really is violating Facebook’s policies. A Facebook spokesperson described the process on background, meaning The Daily Beast cannot name or directly quote them.
Facebook will keep hold of these images for a period of time to make sure that the company is correctly enforcing those policies. Here, images will be blurred and only available to a small number of people, according to the Facebook spokesperson. An individual employee at Facebook, however, will have at that point already examined the un-blurred versions.

Facebook Donates $10,000 To Politician Fighting Gay Marriage

Facebook made a $10,000 donation in May to the reelection campaign of Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, who has received national attention for fighting a court ruling that would make gay marriage legal in the state.

The donation, first reported by QSaltLake, is listed in a filing for Reyes' 2014 primary campaign on the State of Utah Financial Disclosures website.

Retract support of Sean Reyes for Utah Attorney General

On May 13, 2014, Facebook, Inc. donated $10,000 to the campaign of Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes. Reyes has taken the lead in the fight to continue the oppression of Utah's LGBT population and is pushing that fight into the national arena by calling upon the United States Supreme Court to overturn the lower court rulings that have deemed marriage discrimination laws to be unconstitutional. He has also filed suit in Utah's Supreme Court to halt adoptions by same-sex couples and to break up several adoptions that were legally ordered by family judges on those grounds.

Realizing that Facebook can't take back its contribution to Reyes, we hereby request that Facebook publicly decry this bigotry and make an equal or greater contribution to the campaign of Charles Stormont who is also seeking the office of Utah Attorney General. Stormont has publicly proclaimed his support of non-discrimination protections for Utah's LGBT population and has vowed to end these ridiculous and discriminatory lawsuits.
