Teen Wolf Reboot Eyed at MTV — Yes, Weeks Before It Has Even Ended

Because now we apparently talk of “reboots” before a show has actually ended, MTV is said to be in early discussions with Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis about reviving the not-yet-dead drama as an anthology series.

The basic cabler is talking with Davis about the idea of bringing the series back within “a couple of years” with a predominantly “new class” (because everyone loved Saved by the Bell: The New Class, right?) and new setting. What’s more, the series’ current storyline is expected to continue beyond the “final” 10 episodes in the form of a Serial-esque podcast.

“These characters and these stories have hit a peak,” MTV president Chris McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter. “We are talking with Jeff about how do we actually keep that franchise alive. And the beauty of the evolution of media is you can see the series going on through a series of podcasts and then see a resurrection of a new class in a couple years.”

Again, Teen Wolf‘s alleged final season isn’t even over yet. Season 6B — which features the returns of Jackson, Derek, Stiles and Ethan (watch trailer) — premieres Sunday, July 30 at 8/7c.

It’s official; Dylan O’Brien will be returning to steal our hearts on the sixth season of“Teen Wolf.”

After O’Brien was injured filming the third installment of the “Mazerunner” films, many fans were concerned about what the injury meant for his “Teen Wolf” future. However, the series’ showrunner, Jeff Davis, has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that O’Brien’s fan-favorite character will be returning for the sixth season.

O’Brien was run over by a car during the filming of “Mazerunner: The Death Cure” and suffered severe injuries, including multiple broken bones. British Columbia’s work-safety agency blamed the film production company for failing to ensure the safety of workers on the set.

O’Brien’s injuries delayed production, causing the film’s release date to be pushed to 2018, over a year after the film’s original slated release. However, Davis says this will not affect his return to the hit show.

“Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him,” Davis told EW. “We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.”

And as for everyone’s favorite on-screen bromance? “They’re very in love with each other,” said Tyler Posey of Scott and Stiles’ long-standing friendship.
